cryptocracy
Modern democracies lend themselves to a thousand ''esoteric'' interpretations. Power Plants. Let us call this abolition of the formulas that have always bound a multitude of idealists iconoclasm ---- it will not take a Napoleon to make it happen. Only DIRECTION --- in short: a Power Plant. Between the feasible and the fact. ACTION is a vibrant and permeable membrane like writing, an active and subtle filter, transforming the feasible into facts, extending the domain of the effective and transforming that of the ''achievable''. America used to obey only a few industrial leaders, England to the City bankers, France to the Freemasons. Then came the Soviet Union and the mysteries of the masses. Reification. Objectification. The American masses. Consumer society. The secrets in which political responsibilities are immersed. The economy... then, a true cryptocracy comes into play. The modern world disguises its leaders, but the continuous threats to stability reveal a little more about the true forms of governments. Every act can now equally have repercussions on another interface, closer to the origin of the ontological flow: the one that separates the possible from the feasible. It is the technical, economic and social conditions that separate the mere possible from the requirements of feasibility. We shall call TECHNICAL, in the broadest sense of the term, any event that has the effect of shifting the boundary between the possible and the feasible. Technique is not a blind fascination, but because it opens up the field of action. Know-how and technical devices are valuable in two ways: first, as products, crystallization and memory of human activity; second, as potential instruments for increasing the powers of KNOWING, FEELING, ACTING AND COMMUNICATING, the interface between the possible and the feasible. Unfortunately, we still run a certain risk of using them in a way that results in an overall decrease in power. Not exploiting the available techniques is a waste when we see true intelligence in things. The inventors will have had their work in vain and the potential beneficiaries will have been deprived of an increase in crucial qualities. It is the degree of intelligence present in a given situation that determines the humanoid value of the techniques.
