LOWBROWS.

The dishonest, industrialized, illusory subculture, and money, whose importance is exaggerated to the extremes of ridiculousness in its vulgar and unfounded prestige, the glittering edifice of advertising founded on things that do not exist, on nothing, like a cardboard house, a slapstick comedy on the edge of the abyss of existential poverty, and this noisy and miserable political confusion that used to be our minor national industry and is now our amateur media pastime ---, this spurious hubbub raised by men who do good on purpose and then get rich at the expense of the alienated national passions that they feed and manipulate, passions for what is most mediocre; and who will even accept the best on condition that they can use it, distort it and adapt it to their disgusting propaganda, to their empty simplifications and contingent mystifications, to the point of soiling everything that is best with their lapses, resistances and personal interests. These are the only people in the world who boast in public about being second-rate, about being common, popular, that is: LOWBROWS (people devoid of intellect, who are not interested in being cultured and intelligent).
