The Cosmic Serpent

 Jeremy Narby in his book The Cosmic Serpent:

“Like the axis mundi of shamanic traditions, DNA has the shape of a twisted ladder (or a vine); according to my hypothesis, DNA was, like the axis mundi, the source of shamanic knowledge and visions. To be sure, I had to understand how DNA could transmit visual information. I knew it emitted photons, which are electromagnetic waves, and I remembered what Carlos Perez Shuma had told me when he compared spirits to 'radio waves.' Once you turn on the radio, you can tune in. It's the same with spirits; with ayahuasca, you can see and hear them. So I researched the literature on photons of biological origin [...].”

Narby, who in the aforementioned book hypothesizes that DNA is the serpent that frequently appears in the creation myths of different cultures, believes that DNA contains a type of holographic laser:

"According to the researchers who measured them [...] [biophotons] have a high level of coherence, comparable to technical fields (lasers).

"I came to understand that in a coherent light source, the number of photons emitted can vary, but the interval remains constant. DNA emits photons with such regularity that researchers compare the phenomenon to an 'ultra-weak laser.'"

"I asked my expert friend, who explained, 'A coherent light source, like a laser, gives the sensation of bright colors, luminescence, and an impression of holographic depth.'"

Narby believes that the healing hallucinations and visions experienced by shamans are triggered by the coherent emission of biophotons from DNA that occurs when plants containing DMT activate certain receptors in the brain. "This is the source of knowledge: DNA, living in water and emitting photons, like a fire-breathing aquatic dragon."
